About You

You are a senior QA Automation Engineer who takes ownership of building reliable, scalable automated testing solutions for complex, real-world systems. Curiosity drives a deep understanding of how the product works and how users actually experience it. From UI to backend services, integrations, and even physical components when relevant, they validate every layer to ensure the experience is seamless and dependable.

You are comfortable navigating complexity. At the same time, strong collaboration with engineering and QA teams helps surface risks early, strengthen coverage, and increase confidence in every release. Automation becomes more than efficiency, it becomes a foundation for product trust and delivery confidence.

• This is a hybrid position based in Bogotá, Colombia, requiring availability to work onsite as part of a collaborative team environment.

You Bring to Applaudo the Following Competencies:

• 6+ years of experience in QA Automation or Software Engineering roles.

• Extensive hands-on experience writing test automation in Java, particularly for Android applications with complex, UI-heavy workflows.

• Strong experience using Java-based test automation frameworks for UI and API testing.

• Experience validating end-to-end workflows across UI, backend integrations, and distributed systems.

• Experience executing automation across multiple environments, including local emulators, physical hardware, and cloud-based infrastructure.

• Hands-on experience working with cloud-based test environments, particularly AWS.

• Strong ability to troubleshoot automation failures across multiple layers, including environment setup, infrastructure, and system interactions.

• Ability to independently learn and model complex systems without detailed guidance.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Experience collaborating closely with QE Leads and development teams to align automation coverage with real-world usage and quality risks.

• Interest in deep technical ownership as an individual contributor, without people management responsibilities.

• Experience leveraging AI tools to improve automation efficiency, test creation, refactoring, failure analysis, or documentation (nice to have).

You Will Be Accountable for the Following Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain automated test solutions for the Android-based Kiosk platform, covering UI workflows and end-to-end scenarios.

• Extend and evolve existing automation frameworks with a focus on reliability, maintainability, scalability, and reporting.

• Execute automation across local emulators, physical kiosk hardware, and cloud-based environments.

• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support build validation and release confidence.

• Diagnose and resolve complex automation failures related to infrastructure, environments, or system interactions.

• Leverage AI-powered tools and techniques to improve automation effectiveness and efficiency.

• Collaborate closely with QE Leads and development teams to align automation coverage with product risk and real-world usage.

• Document automation strategies, support team adoption, and contribute to shared quality practices.
